This is a Tribute to BillyDKY

How to quit smoking.

Lets start by talking about failure.

There are only two ways we fail in life. The first is by doing too much which leads to the second failure of doing nothing.

We fail to overcome our addictions because;
1) We dont have the right method.
2) We dont want to face ourselves.

Lets start by saying youre smoking two packs a day. So for the first month all youre going to do is evaluate that assumption. So in the morning you lay out two packs & dont smoke anymore than that.

Youre going to want to do more but dont.

Lets assume two packs a day was accurate. Now lets proceed to the second month. For the second month youre going to smoke two packs minus one cigarette or 39 cigarettes. Assuming a pack has 20 cigarettes in it. Notice all we are doing is implementing disciple in small ways.

Youre going to want to give up more than one cigarette per month but avoid the failure of doing too much. Notice you are disciplining yourself to smoke less & youre disciplining yourself to not do too much.

Missing one cigarette a day will improve you life but not much. It should be easy to deal with. However, there maybe some minor issues to deal with but you should be able to deal with them. By the months end you shouldnt even notice. However, if youre finding it difficult to stick to the plan, then youve got other issue that you need to working on. So youll need to take an honest look at yourself & evaluate. If you cant figure it out, ask people who know you. If youre still not getting clarity, then start a meditation program & figure it out by yourself. Quitter never win & winners never quit. If you dont have a winning attitude, there is nothing I can do to help you.

Month three; you give up another cigarette. Now you are only smoking 38 cigarettes a day. Again, youre going to want to do more but dont. The power of this plan is baby steps. Never underestimated baby steps. Again, avoid the failure of wanting to do too much which leads to doing nothing. Give it time. Patience is a virtue.

Itll take you time to adjust to one less cigarette. However, it should be minimal. We are looking for long term success, not short term success.

Month four; you give up another cigarette. Now you are only smoking 37 cigarettes a day. You get the pattern by now.

...

Month forty-two; youre giving up your last cigarette. Its amazing! You quit & you dont even have an ounce of craving. Why? Because you dealt with all those craves during the last 41 months. Youre a free man!

Follow the plan & be free! If you cant follow this simple plan, what makes you think you can quit cold turkey? The beauty of this plan is that you never do anything that you cant deal with. Therefore, you stick with it. Therefore, you win!

Its basically the same method for all socially acceptable addictions. This method may not be appropriate for illicit drugs. You should seek professional counsel on those topics.
